CAREER STAGE

BEGINNER

You’re thinking about re-training, studying or you’ve just graduated. You have an inkling that you’d like to try your hands at something in the arts but not sure if it’s right for you or if it’ll deliver on your creative ambitions. There’s a few options, so you want to get clear on your special sauce, to choose the right course, gig, or tribe and be your best self at the interview. You want to check in with somebody who’s been there for some pointers to save you time and energy and reassure you you’re on the right track.

early-career

CAREER STAGE

EARLY STAGE

You’ve supported some great creative people, with great ideas doing great things, although in hindsight you might do things differently. You’ve grafted, from basic admin to convincing people to donate stuff, to inventing new ways of doing things, because you can’t quite believe it’s not been thought of before. You’ve knocked things into shape, got stuff done, at lightning speed, with a spring in your step, despite the long days and chicken feed pay. You’ve experienced enough to know you have more ideas to bring to fruition, you’re ready to step it up and lean into leadership.

CAREER STAGE

MID CAREER

You’ve taken creative crumbs and transformed them into mind-boggling feasts for hungry audiences. You’re adept at shape-shifting, from stretching tiny budgets and teams to spearheading ambitious shows, companies, campaigns, productions and brands whilst keeping multiple stakeholders sweet. People feel your passion and know you’re the real deal. You’ve held the fort time and again and done the dirty work, because somebody has to. You hide your battle scars well.

You lead with vision, passion and the belief that together we can make magic happen. You’re the glue. Whether it’s leading a team, running an arts organisation, festival, programme or charity, you put incredible ideas, people and place above all else. You’ve raised a lot of money, attracted some incredible donors, sponsors and get asked to represent at industry events regularly. Your networks know you’re the boss. You can do pretty much anything you put your mind to.
